About me

Kirk Brandt is a Toronto-based painter, drawer, and printmaker, whose works are primarily figurative with abstract elements. His work is an exploration of visual psychology, beauty, and queerness, with a nod to art movements of the past through a contemporary lens. He works at creating atmospheric and compelling visuals through his use of pattern, bright contrasting and complementary colours, and colour temperature as value.

Kirk is inspired by the graphic art of the 60s, queer and popular culture, camp, early photography of movement, and digital media. He has been written about in LongConMag, and Planet S, and has had work featured in the Mendel Art Gallery, Gordon Snelgrove Gallery, and the Francis Morrison Library Gallery.
